Your Website Pulls All Your Marketing Efforts Together

Why does pretty much every business need a website? It’s not just a case of “everyone else has one, so I guess I better have one, too” — though that certainly does still come up in some conversations with new copywriting clients. As fellow Vancouver copywriter (and much more) Rick Sloboda puts it, Websites are Marketing Hubs:
A website is not just a piece of the marketing pie; it’s the actual hub that connects all the marketing strategies and tactics, online and offline… Of course, other marketing elements play a role: postcards, e-mails, PR, commercials and much more. But these sources frequently push people to a website. Even TV commercials are trading in 1-800 numbers for website addresses.
To put it another way, if your marketing strategy took the unlikely form of smoked salmon on a bagel, your website would be the essential cream cheese that holds the tasty product together.
I Love It When A Marketing Strategy Comes Together. More Cream Cheese!

Simply the most crazy delicious lox and cream cheese bagel in the universe. I mean, a website. I mean… I can’t think.
I’m going to eat a bagel.

But wouldn’t the website be more like the bagel and the hyperlinks the cream cheese…and what about vegans? They have websites too!
Also: now I’m hungry. You hereby owe me a bagel.
